If They Say

A seat swap, a forgotten name, a dish to send back: play it through once before you say it.

If They SayRehearse a small ask, every branch.

Write down the small thing you need to ask and who you are asking. The page reads the ask, builds a sketch you can play right away on a dialogue wheel, and one run writes the full tree for your moment - the yes, the half-yes, the kind no, and the reply you dread, marked so you can practise it on purpose.

      3 Write my map

One run writes the tree for your moment: three ways to open (warm, direct, playful), three to six replies from them with two or three choices each, a yes, a half-yes and a kind no, the reply you dread marked on the wheel, a one-line ask and three delivery tips. Their lines are guesses for practice, never predictions, and no line pressures anyone after a no.

The page's read follows a fixed order: sharpen it if the ask is under four words or leans on vague words (stuff, something, help me out); otherwise shrink it if it involves money, something ongoing (every week, from now on) or two asks in one; otherwise say it.

      How the free side works

The page reads your ask with plain word rules, not a judgement of you: it counts the words, looks for vague ones (stuff, things, something, help me out, sort it out), and for signs of a big ask - money (a sum, lend, loan, pay for), something ongoing (every week, always, from now on, for good) or two asks stacked (and also, as well as). The first rule that matches gives the read.

The sketch is a small generic tree from stock replies for your kind of moment, so the wheel works before you sign in. A full map is checked line by line: every link must lead to a later line or an ending (so no scene loops), every line and ending must be reachable, each line offers two or three choices with different tones, an exit always ends the scene, and the yes, the half-yes and the kind no must all exist. The page also flags a number your brief never gave, a he or she your brief never used, and any internal label in the wording.

If They Say is for small everyday moments. It is not advice for a serious conflict, a legal or medical matter, or anyone in danger - for those, talk to someone you trust or a professional.
